I really like the new journal designs!

Ya dude, I'm into it. I like the fact that they are "minimalist," not too cheesy or overdone. I like the style with the tabs at the top, because I think it places emphasis on the part of the page that is the most interactive and therefore interesting - the nav. The journal title and userpic are fine in the top right column where they are. They don't need to be front and center so that you have to wade through them to get to the main content like some of the other minimalist themes. It just leaves too much empty space at the top of the page where there should be content. I like the aesthetic of the background being dark and the entries having a white background color like this one. Its also really neat how they display the number of comments left on each article by that large number in the bottom right-hand corner. I was a little confused at first, but quickly figured it out by clicking on it which I think is fine. This one, where the colors are all washed out and there's not enough contrast, is kind of rough on the eyes in my opinion, but I bet there's someone out there that would be into it, and it's good to provide variety in color schemes. So I've decide on the blue one because I like the tabs at the top, I like the color blue, and I like that it's a fresh new design made by LJ's awesome designers! (I did increase the size of the font within the tabs though, cuz I thought they should be emphasized and I'm blind!)

Great informative post!
Hello.
@deadrum33I think it was that you tried to go to a DL disc. I read somewhere that VobBlanker removes the layer break information...and I'm sure the slower speed didn't help either. If you rip to your HDD first and then use a program that will set the correct layer break you might be ok. Just a guess. My friend shrinks to DVD5 size (if he has to) after blanking because of too many compatibilty issues he has with DL.@binkiesome of us are still trying to use the free or cheap as you can method. :) I've never used CloneDVD but it sounds as though it is very similar to VobBlanker.
