This is so awesome!
I watched the inauguration on my laptop in not the best quality, so it blew my mind when I saw this crystal clear image of the entire scene. Super cool.

I don't get sick very often (knock on wood!) but when I do I decide whether or not I'm going to work based on how I feel. Sometimes it feel good to acknowledge to yourself, "I would be worthless at work anyway so I'll be doing everyone a favor by staying home." When it gets to that point, I drop any guilt of not coming in to work and feel content just staying in bed.
Ya dude, I'm into it. I like the fact that they are "minimalist," not too cheesy or overdone. I like the style with the tabs at the top, because I think it places emphasis on the part of the page that is the most interactive and therefore interesting - the nav. The journal title and userpic are fine in the top right column where they are. They don't need to be front and center so that you have to wade through them to get to the main content like some of the other minimalist themes. It just leaves too much empty space at the top of the page where there should be content. I like the aesthetic of the background being dark and the entries having a white background color like this one. Its also really neat how they display the number of comments left on each article by that large number in the bottom right-hand corner. I was a little confused at first, but quickly figured it out by clicking on it which I think is fine. This one, where the colors are all washed out and there's not enough contrast, is kind of rough on the eyes in my opinion, but I bet there's someone out there that would be into it, and it's good to provide variety in color schemes. So I've decide on the blue one because I like the tabs at the top, I like the color blue, and I like that it's a fresh new design made by LJ's awesome designers! (I did increase the size of the font within the tabs though, cuz I thought they should be emphasized and I'm blind!)
Never done it, thought I'd give it a try! =)
My aunt keeps sending me great Obama stuff, so I keep posting it here.

Chatz coffee on 2nd and Howard has a breakfast shake with (if I remember all the ingredients correctly):
banana, honey, cinnamon, peanut butter, vanilla, and soy milk
Sooooooo good. Quite possibly one of the best smoothies I've ever had.

One week exactly. Not bad! The house we were living in served us very well... through meeting, moving in together, getting engaged, Dax starting his business and me growing my career. But, it's time to move on. Our new place is at 30th and Noe, perfect location if you ask me. It's a little far from GG Park and Haight St., where Dax and I have enjoyed many a Saturday bike ride together, but it's close to the muni for work, it's close to Dax's office in the Mission, it's a quite neighborhood with plenty of parking for my family wagon (Subaru Outback), and its close to the quaint and at times shishi area of Noe. Our bedroom is all windows on three of the walls, one with a view of Bernal Heights, another with a deck overlooking a nice backyard, and the third, get this, overlooks our very own (shared) backyard, perfect for BBQ's, sunbathing, reading, relaxing, growing a garden, you name it. Who knew a week ago when I got us booted from our place that we'd end up in such a perfect little nest for our budding family?? Ha! I did! I never doubted that the universe would provide for us, and that things always work out well in the end. I was sorry to add any ounce of stress to my wonderful man's life, what with him running a business at the same time as he was planning for 4 separate events within two months, but he's happy with the new place and that makes me happy.
Good times, good times... and many more good times to come!

I try to recycle everything,
I use disposable items sparingly,
cloth napkins at home instead of paper,
bringing my own bags to the grocery store (including cloth produce bags),
using tupper ware instead of plastic wrap for my leftovers,
ordering only what I can eat at restaurants so I don't have to use a styrofoam to-go box,
taking the bus or riding my bike instead of driving my car,
sending information electronically as opposed to using a printer,
voting for green initiatives and candidates that pledge to help the environment,
not littering,
generally trying to make decisions based on a conservationist attitude.
Things I do to pollute the planet:
Forgetting to bring a canteen for water, forcing me to buy plastic bottles,
Taking really hot, long showers because I like them.
... I try to justify these to myself by the afore mentioned good behavior!
